Through this course, I gained a comprehensive understanding of the structure and function of the human body, with a focus on systems essential to human movement. The combination of lectures and hands-on labs, using human skeletons, anatomical charts, and models, allowed me to explore how cells, tissues, organs, and systems work together. This knowledge is crucial for identifying movement patterns, recognizing imbalances, and developing personalized strategies to prevent injuries and promote recovery

Core concepts

  • Identified the origin, insertion, and actions of various muscles throughout the body which allowed comprehension of musculoskeletal injuries

  • Acquired a vocabulary for anatomical and medical terminology that permits clear communication with health professionals

  • Practiced the use of palpation to locate anatomical structures within the human body

In this course, I studied the integrated functions of key physiological systems, including the nervous, endocrine, muscle, cardiovascular, and respiratory systems, with a focus on metabolism and the impact of exercise on the body. This deeper understanding of how these systems interact to influence movement, performance, and overall health will help me apply science-based techniques to optimize physical performance, prevent injuries, and support recovery.
